NorCom’s install at The Handlebar sports bar and grill in the Great American Ballpark shows just how creative integrators can be with video distribution when they use Just Add Power. A huge 3x6 8196 x 2304-pixel video wall covers the area behind the bar and allows for almost any selection and combination of source or content, including cable, broadcast, scoreboard feeds, instant replay, bullpen camera, pitch speed and Kiss Cam.
One of the most visually striking elements is two huge HD video columns that use LG 55-inch 5760 x 5400-pixel resolution displays to broadcast a range of live camera feeds, HD baseball programming and digital signage. A 4x5 social media wall with 50-inch Sharp LCD displays lets fans see and post promotions, tweets, Instagram photos and sponsor announcements.

“A very complex project has been made very easy to operate and the client was thrilled with the results”
Peter Wallace, Gencom Project Manager.
Gencom was asked to design a solution for the Auckland DCC that would make switching between multiple sources and views of various live feeds, fast and simple. Using an iPad as a graphical touch screen interface, an AMX controller manages the Just Add Power network of devices. Eight sources from four computers can be distributed to any of the 10 screens, and staff can expand the live feeds to fill the 2x2 video walls when necessary. With an integrated KVM switcher, control of those computers can be transferred among operator stations at the same time. Outputs from the DCC can be fed to two meeting rooms, one with an interactive projector set up.

Installer: HD Connectivity
When HD Connectivity approached the owners of spread-betting giants Spreadex about kitting out their state-of-the-art trading rooms in St Albans, Hertfordshire, they said they simply wanted a cost-effective system that delivered large-scale video distribution with no visible lag between source and display.
The owners were amazed at the speed that Just Add Power encoded and decoded HD video and they were even more impressed with the cost relative to the system they currently had in place. HD over IP was implemented alongside a bespoke-tailored Media Switcher control solution that allows staff to switch between the 15 networked HDMI sources on their desk PC.

32 sources x 39 displays
Control: On Controls
When the installation was first completed the owners realized that they did not have enough screens - not a problem for Just Add Power. This high profile installation is currently a 32x39 and is expected to keep growing. The system gives the ability for various DirecTV receivers, digital signage boxes, and local sources to be played with the touch of a button on any or all of the displays. Future plans include expansion into more digital signage in the lobby as well as a possible video wall.

Installer: Resolution Audio Visual
“My team found it easy to both grasp the concept of using a layer 3 network switch and commission the system. More and more we are finding that we are dealing with ITS departments with the AV projects we are involved in, and to introduce a solution that operates on their platform was a positive experience for all involved”.
David Rees, Owner and Technical Director at Resolution Audio Visual.

By installing 2G+ HD over IP devices over the clients existing network infrastructure audio, video and USB was able to be distributed and managed in a way that provided seamless matrix switching.
A total of ten HD video sources were made available to multiple meeting rooms and digital signage screens throughout the building. Resolution Audio Visual were able to achieve all required switching of Audio Visual signals within a budget that allowed the client to put things back into the project that had previously been cut.
